What is Demo Finland?

Demo Finland functions as a co-operative organisation for Finnish parliamentary parties. It seeks to enhance democracy by carrying out and facilitating collaborative projects between Finnish political parties and political movements in developing countries.

Demo’s work is based on the Government’s white paper from 2004, according to which ”Respect for human rights, equality in society and between the sexes as well as the advancement of democracy are the prerequisites for development”. ”Facilitating encouraging conditions for the functioning of a multiparty system and parliament creates a favourable ground for the development and establishment of democracy. The Government is looking into ways of increasingly making use of the experience and participation of Finnish parliamentarians and political parties.”
